The method and study materials of Hispana Spanish School follow the guidelines and the classification of levels established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and the Cervantes Institute of Spain. Our communicative and personalized methodology permits the students to achieve their communication objectives rapidly. The emphasis of our method is on the oral communication skills of the students in diverse contexts. They will learn the correct and standard use of the Spanish language, the many variations used in Latin America, and principally, Peru.

STUDY MATERIALS AND TEACHING RESOURCES

The textbooks and supplementary material of Hispana have been carefully developed by the school´s Department of Research and Development in accordance with the guidelines of the Common European Framework and of the Instituto Cervantes in Spain. The materials are based on the variant of Spanish used in Latin America but also cover the differences with other regional variations. The teaching resources we use in classes vary according to the level of studies:

Basic / Pre-Intermediate Level:

+ Students learn commonly used questions and phrases, while immersed in a new culture. + Study of basic communicative and functional vocabulary. + Use of games, mimicry + Use of visual material + Use of materials such as short newspaper articles, advertisements, literary texts, greeting cards, etc.

Intermediate Level:

+ Use of more authentic material: movies, newspapers and documentaries in Spanish. + Only Spanish is spoken in the classroom; the students' native language is only used in emergency situations.

Advanced Level:

+ Use of materials exhibiting different Spanish levels. + Use of short stories, interviews, etc. + Special focus is placed on the use of idiomatic expressions. + Comprehension and use of proverbs and idioms both spoken and written. + Review of Spanish syntax with particular emphasis on the specific problems of each student.
