Surfing in Lima

Study Spanish and have fun surfing our awesome Lima waves

You will learn:

Pre-surf stretching exercises, ocean awareness and surf theory.
How to paddle on your board, how to duck dive, how to turtle roll, how to stand up on a surfboard, how to effectively position yourself on the board, and how to turn and go down the line of the wave.
Technique development to improve your skills while surfing.
Beach and surf safety skills.

Surfing practice includes:

Long-sleeved wetsuit, surfboards and accessories provided.
Special discounts to buy surfboards, wetsuits, etc.

Why surfing in Peru?

Quantity and quality of world-class waves all year round for the novice all the way to the professional surfer.
The incredibly un-crowded and "non-touristy" beaches, which offer lots of opportunities to relax, practice Spanish and make local friends while surfing.
The Pacific Ocean coastline also offers you the unique opportunity to be in contact with marine fauna such as pelicans, seagulls, seals, sea lions, dolphins, and sea birds.
Our Spanish school and accommodation options are about 20 minutes walking distance from Miraflores beaches.
MAKAHA BEACH (Miraflores) Ideal to learn how to surf before getting into more challenging waves. Makaha Beach is characterized by smaller waves and is a popular spot for beginners. However, further out one finds La Reventazón (The Blowout), which are bigger, hollowing waves that offer much better conditions for all those fond of long-board surfing.

About the surf coach

Alberto López has 22 years surfing experience and 6 years teaching new surfers. Alberto has years of experience surfing the local spots and will take you to the beach with the most suitable waves depending on the weather conditions and your skills.

Requirements to enroll in this program:

+ Basic swimming skills

+ International travel insurance

+ A positive attitude

SURF TRIPS:

Surf trips : We organize 1-day to 28-day trips to the best beaches on Peru in a 4x4. We also organize short trips to southern beaches around Lima (1 or 2 days) for 1 to six persons.

Surf Internships : If you are a surf instructor and want to volunteer in our school we will offer you board and accommodation and the opportunity to join our surf trips.

Salsa Lessons

Combine any Spanish Program or course with Salsa clases and get a delicious taste of Latinamerican flavor. You will learn and practice Salsa techniques, shines and turns, with a focus on dancing with a partner.

You will learn:

Rhythm
Body expression
Basic steps of Latin salsa -forward to back, side to side.
Basic turns of Latin salsa
Giving/receiving a three-turn combination
Basic lead and follow rules - proper body positioning, proper hand positioning
Introduction to salsa music - theory, history, timing & counts
Basic footwork/shines
Advanced steps

Learn to dance in a practical and effective way with professional teachers with a lot of experience.
